Colorized Dracula 1931 Universal Studios Helen Cha

Here is a very seldom seen still from Dracula of actress Helen Chandler (Mina Seward) in the finale of the film. She is still under Dracula's spell. Chandler had just finished the ethereal, Outward Bound 1930 and Dracula 1931 was just for her just another contract assignment for an actress who saw herself in the title role of Alice In Wonderland, a role that three years later went instead to the less talented Charlotte Henry. Chandler like actor Colin Clive, suffered from alcoholism and never really beat her addiction. Her career was cut short because of it, later she was injured and disfigured in an apartment fire. Sadly she died in April 1965 of cardiac arrest,  completely forgotten. Her ashes remain unclaimed in a Venice California Cemetery.
