The absolute brilliance of Jack P Pierce's make up for Universal Studios 1941 production of "The Wolfman" is a joy to behold. Earlier in 1935 Pierce had designed several "concept" make ups for Henry Hull in "Werewolves Of London" but Hull wanted more of his own features showing and believed he could use his own acting ability and facial expressions to portray a werewolf. Lon Chaney Jr though was much more considerate in his respect for the make up artist as his own Father was considered a make up and special effects/ actor all rolled into one. So Jack pierce finally got the opportunity to use the earlier concepts in the incarnation of "The Wolfman.
